Cafe Cambio

Founded in 2005, Café Cambio has become a community staple in the northern Quebec town of Chicoutimi. Originally developed as a worker's cooperative, Cambio has begun the transition to a solidarity cooperative since 2023. Cambio has been purchasing from Cooperative Coffees since its beginning, and continues to solely utilize the coffee sourced by the coop for its offerings. This has led to long-standing buying commitments with many cooperatives, an aspect that Cambio takes pride in, and hopes to continue expanding for years to come.

Cambio is a Spanish word meaning change. Café Cambio lives up to the translation with many changes in direction, services, and physical location. The Cambio is always in search of how to improve its conditions for employees and members, how to provide more for the Chicoutimi community, and to ensure that it holds the farmers and producers at the core of its existence. As it celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2025, Café Cambio gives thanks to all the employees, clients, producers (both local and afar), and Coop Coffees for providing it the space to grow.
