Homer Alarcón Gayoso is 41 years old (2020) and is a second generation coffee farmer. He was born in the community of San Lorenzo in the district of San José del Alto in Jaén, Cajamarca. He lives with his wife and their three children aged 4, 8 and 13.
Homer has been a coffee farmer since he was 18 years old. In 2006, he joined the Cuenca del Paramillo producer association, which is a primary association of the Sol&Café cooperative. All of his coffee is organically grown and fair trade certified. It is washed and dried under sun on raised drying tables.
